Someone I Used to Know tells the story of a father and son whose inseparable bond starts to fray when the father loses his job. Getting increasingly entangled with stress, he turned to an online chat group through which he became predatory to drug use. He becomes an entirely different person, and along the way, he gradually separates from his son. The father finally comes to his senses and realizes the amount of devastation he has brought on, highlighting how drug abuse is not victimless. The film explores how drug addiction impacts not just the addict but also everyone around him.
