Two sisters grow up in the long shadow of their mother’s addiction. The elder, scarred by years of scolding and neglect, she turns her pain on others at school. She tries to prove to her mom that drugs can be overcome.However, she is slowly pulled into the same darkness. The younger sister watches in silence, sketching fragments of the family she remembers and clinging to the warmth that once was. In the final moment, she clutches a talking doll that softly says “I love you,” then finds the courage to speak the truth and takes her the first step out of the shadow.
