“The Bystander” is a narrative short exploring peer pressure, silence, and influence. It follows a teen who witnesses his friends experimenting with substances, and does nothing. But staying silent comes with consequences. Jesse, a heroin user, had convinced his two friends, Jay and Dani, to try heroin. Sam who was reluctant at first, ended up giving in to Jesse’s pressure. As Jesse was pressuring Sam, Alex watched on the sidelines and did nothing to stop Jesse. As a result of his inaction, Sam ends up having a medical emergency after being injected with heroin.
