“Whatever it Takes”? follows Ervin, a young tennis player devastated by a narrow defeat. After seeing news that his favorite athlete was caught doping yet still won, he wonders if taking shortcuts might work. Through a dream sequence, he experiences the rise and fall of addiction – initial success, devastating health consequences, and eventual rejection by his team. This reflection forces him to confront how peer pressure and normalized views of drug use distort judgment. Waking up, Ervin chooses integrity over shortcuts, rejecting his friend’s offer and encouraging him to do the same.
